This beautiful tree has shaded our house for at least 23 years that we have lived here. We have loved it and had many adventures with it. Each of the children learned to ride their bike and crashed into it. It has held the nest of many Magpies and we have sworn we were going to shoot them out of the tree. Most recently it has hidden a few discarded "treasures" that I didn't know where to put anywhere else. However, a large branch fell out of the tree and landed on our roof. It didn't break off--it rotted out so we decided that was a sign to say good bye to our old friend.
Bruce and his son climbed up the trunk and cut all the branches off and then cut the trunk down in sections.
Our corner looks a little bare. We are going to plant a couple of trees in it's place...now what tree to choose.
