Beaver Pond

The girls thought it would be a good idea to try out the new pond created in the river by the beavers that have moved in. It is a great spot about 6 feet deep because of the dam the beavers built. The jumping was terrific and they had a blast--except it was a Saturday at 10:30 a.m., after moving pipe, and all the clothes they had were their "unders". It was also a brisk 54 degrees outside and the water temperature was probably around 40 degrees! I agreed to be only the photographer and not a jumper. I do have better sense than that-sometimes!

Fall Flowers

The top flower is the only one that I know the name of: Crookneck Blossom. I love the little purple ones. They grow on a bush that is nearly three feet tall and there are hundreds of these little flowers. They wait until everything else has finished and then they come out. The white ones are new to my garden and this is their second bloom! I was so surprised to see them all covered in flowers again! I love these kind of surprises!

The Harvest

My garden has not been the best tended this summer. The Crookneck plant did the best, of course. I planted green beans, Early Girl tomatoes and some bell peppers. I had a good crop of apples with worms in them. I planted in early June and then weeded it once in July and once in August so I can't complain too much. My tomatoes are just coming on so we've made fesh salsa and put that on everything, crookneck bread, canned the beans and I plan to dehydrate the apples--without the worms!

YW Horse Ride

This picture turned out more dark than I wanted but it isn't often I have this many horses saddled all at the same time. We had a great ride around Charlie's. The girls are getting more confident about riding down the hill and trotting around the corral. I am getting stronger after saddling that many!

All Healed Up!

I can't believe how well this horse has healed. He was cut up on June 18th and this was taken September 15th. We haven't ridden him yet and I don't plan to for another couple of months. He hasn't favored it at all and I hope that he is sound!

This little guy is our newest yearling. I wish he would stay this color but I don't think it will happen.

Mouse thinks he is "badly done by" having to babysit him but he does like the bonus grain that comes when we tie up the yearling!

My sister, Dianna took some of Dad's goats to her house while they are on their mission. This was the best "watching" event I've seen a while! Goats aren't easy critters to rope. They run fast and duck out of the loop, but she got this one!

Sending my parents on a mission is a whole lot easier than sending my son! First of all, they packed themselves, paid for their own new clothes, and took their cell phone with them! It is wonderful! They have been called the the Las Vegas, Nevada mission to a service mission on the Church's ranch in Delamar Valley. It is 2 hours north of Las Vegas. They are spending this week at the MTC in Provo with a slight hitch in that the MTC couples rooms are under construction so they are staying at Motel 8 nearby! My mom said this is way better! They have maid service! We will miss going over to raid the garden and the cupboards for treats, jumping on the tramp with grandma, hugs from grandpa, playing cards with grandma, and snuggling in the chair with grandpa!

A New Eagle

My Nephew, Ty, earned his Eagle Scout! He replaced the roof on the pavilion at the Paradise park for his project. The coolest part of the night was when he chose Grandpa Reay as his mentor and gave him a nice tie pin. It was a tender moment!

The Hammock

Savanna started gathering twine in April for this project. Each string is 96 feet long and there are eighty of them! It took forty or fifty hours to complete. She learned a lot about knot tieing and patience. The final project ended up terrific. It is about seven feet long and she put a cushion in it to make it more comfy. She is amazing!

Grass is Greener?

These 14 pair were in the neighbors, so we found them and brought them back home. They were all recently purchased cows and had never been up South Canyon. They didn't stay with the bunch we put them with and they stayed down low where the grass was easy. I hope they like their new home!
