Hot Air Balloons in the Neighborhood!

When we returned to St. George after visiting my parents, we saw this hot air balloon in the neighborhood.  It started to come closer and closer until it landed about a block away!  The girls rode bikes up to get a better view. 
I just saw in the news today that the garage where the balloon  and stuff were stored caught on fire and blew up a propane tank.  Not a good deal for their business!

Visiting the Missionaries

            Hi Dad!

My mom added a personal touch to this quilt block.  She has worked at the Auction Cafe in Smithfield since I was 16--and that was forever ago!

They get seasonal workers coming to their place and so this is a room they fixed up in one of the shed's.  It was finished as an Eagle Scout project!  It has a nice bathroom also.

This was the view right outside my door the morning after we arrived (in the dark).
It was so great to see my parents.  They have been gone six long months which means they have only six months left! 

Dinner Guests

These guys came in to eat with the cows on the East.  There were about 20 other elk on the other hill that didn't come in for a few days but now we are getting 7-10 each day.  Most of them are bigger bulls but there are a few younger ones as well.  They are much more timid than these 2.  They are so cool to watch.  The cows look at them and the elk act more afraid of the cows than I expected.

Sierra and Makell Hansen

A new subdivision in Mesquite.

The reason we went to St. George for President's day was to play soccer!  All of Sierra's games were in Mesquite, Nevada.  It took us 40 minutes to get there from St. George and so it wasn't too far.  The weather was actually nicer in Mesquite.  The soccer complex was huge and very nice.  They had five fields and three of them were turf.  Mesquite has grown a bunch since I was there 23 years ago. 

Presidents Day in St. George

It was so nice to get away from home for a few days.  The weather was decent and the accomodations were fabulous!
 We were able to go for a walk one day. 
The other day it rained.
Jackson stayed home to tend Chelsie, the dog and the house.  It was also "true Aggie" weekend.  He said the girls were lined up at the "A" for him.  What a big talker! 

No Snow!

It has been so nice around here!  I know more snow is coming but I am going to enjoy every day I don't have to wear my heavy coat.  These 3 babies came from some "bought cows"  Bryan found.

Still Cute Fabric

We found the pattern for this cute bag when we were in St. George and have made about ten of them.  I had enough left over fabric from that quilt that I finished to make this bag.  It turned out cute.

Just Part of the Job

Bryan and I went to Salt Lake the other day to look at these steers.
 We were only a few miles from the airport. 
 The guy driving the wheeler is about 75 years old and he told Bryan just to hop on and he'd take him out into the pen.  They looked at every single steer in the whole pen of 250 head. 
 The top picture is how their bunks are set up.  The black plastic is nailed to the posts and then then mixer just augers it out onto the plastic.  When we were here before, one of his workers was sweeping the feed back into the bunk so the cattle could reach it.  I thought it was very interesting.
 The other cool thing at this guys place was that he had a green house that was part of the atrium that they tore down at a mall in Ogden.  He went to a scrap sale and saw it  and decided it would work for a greenhouse and it is pretty darn sweet. 
I wish I could see something old and find a new use for it like he did!

We had to put both leaves in the table to seat them all.  I also got out the china that has been sitting in the cupboard for years, to use.  Partly, because that is the only set that had enough for ten and mostly, because I needed to dust the china hutch!

We were the lucky hosts of Sweethearts dinner again this year.  We had five couples eating roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, rolls and green beans.  However, the green beans were not a hit.  Who'da thunk that these kids wouldn't love green beans, especially when they were sauteed with red peppers?!  Anyway, we enjoyed having them over and they had a great time at the dance.

Riverton in February

The sale barn in Riverton, Wyoming.  They sold 2500 head in eight hours. 

 They know how to sell cattle!

We call this the Red Rock Canyon.  It is just outside of Lander.

Our room at the Holiday Inn has been remodeled!

Now they are very nice and much more desirable.

They sold 300 head  in 3 hours on the day we were there. 

Bryan and I had a nice drive--ok a long drive to Riverton.  We left Monday around 11 a.m. and we arrived in Riverton by 4:30 p.m.  It didn't snow on us, but Logan Canyon was slick as was South Pass. 

 The sale started at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning and we left there around 6:30 p.m.  I always get a late check-out and so I went to the weight room and rode the bike for an hour.  When I went to Walmart  after lunch, I got a great surprise and saw a friend that used to work at the sale in Riverton.  It was great to visit with her and her husband.   

We drove over Towgatee to Jackson, Wyoming and arrived there at 10:30 p.m.  Bryan stays there enough that they go turn on the heater in our room so it isn't so cold when we get there. We were gone the next morning by 9:30 a.m.  We had good roads and weather all the way to Idaho Falls.  I got some good shopping done there.  Macy's had a fabulous sale! 

 I crocheted a hat and worked on my cross-stitch, prepared 2 Sunday lessons and cat-napped once.
