Homecoming 2012

 A janitor from MC is the Grand Marsall.  He is so kind and friendly.  All the students like him.  He invited Sierra and her friends to his daughter's birthday party where he served many African foods that she was nervous to try!

Savanna is on the back of the boat hitting candy with her tennis racket.  She was having a blast!  My baby and her first Homecoming parade--yikes!  Bryan is sure getting old!

Potawatamie Jelly

 The plums my dad and I picked.

 

 This is my steamer.  It steams the juice from the plums.

 This is my process of making jelly from some plums that grow wild around my dad's house.  The only picture I don't have is the finished product--mostly because it was dark when I finished and the pretty pink jelly didn't look good at dark.

 My grape tomatoes have done so well!  I don't have any to share

 because I eat them before they make it to the house.

 

 My tomato plants in general have grown like crazy!

 A lovely Hungarian wax pepper and a cucumber that grew up my tomato cage.

 

This is my new addition to our landscaping.  It requires no water, no sun, no fertilizer and I am so glad to have it to put bikes, trikes, snow blowers and anything else that I can fit into it!  Thanks, Josh!

Color

 The leaves are so pretty and bright this year!  This is my best driving shot.  Bryan and I each drove a truck and trailer to Sink Hole.  They graded the road up 3 mile and widened it enough to pull the 24 foot trailer up!  First time ever.

There are actually twins in this picture.  Bryan got lucky and rode upon them in the sage brush.  The mother was about a block away and never did approach when we got close.  The calves layed perfectly still while we admired them.

Soap Carving

Sierra and Jeff had an especially exciting date...they carved soap.  It smelled good- especially the Irish Spring.  Jeff has one more month before he is headed to Korea to serve a mission. 

Paradise 2nd

The church in Paradise is coming along.  The brick is a pretty chocolate color and I like it.  It is fun to watch the big equipment come and go every day and see how fast they put things together!

Apple Days

 Michael, Savanna, Scott

Savanna played in River Heights annual Apple Days Tennis Tourney with Michael in a mixed doubles group.  They took 2nd!  They played 3 other matches and won all of those  so they played together very well.  Yea!

Coming Home!

This is one of the places I went to work today.  They had a big week of riding up Blacksmith Fork Canyon to bring cows home.  We got twenty head home today.  It was so darn dusty in the corrals!   A breeze picked up the dust just as I took this picture so you can't see how bad it is.   Also notice how hazy the hills look--it is the smoke from the fires near Sun Valley, Idaho and it is gunky in the whole valley!

Where I went to work today

 

Alma and I went in search of 30 or so lost cows.  They have wandered around on a new piece we rented and some even ended up in Sink Hole about ten miles south.  Pretty adventurous for a cow-- I'd say! 

 It was a beautiful day for a ride, the smoke from fires in Idaho had cleared a  little and it wasn't as hot as it has been.  The leaves are gorgeous right now and we got to see several dozen wild turkeys running around.

Bryan sent us to find the cows in a general direction but after unloading and reloading the horses in two different locations and then finally talking to someone who had actually seen the cows we drove the truck and trailer to within a mile of where the cows were hanging out--in good feed and water-of course.  They know how to take care of themselves pretty darn good! 

A good ride beats working around home any day!

YW Volley Ball

Yep, it's that time of year again--volleyball!  It is so fun to watch them grow from being scared that the ball would hit them, and not being able to serve the ball over the net,  to calling for the ball and serving  with some sort of acuracy!  In the bottom picture we have:  Saje, Hollie, and Savanna on the back row, and Kylee, Lexie, and Mady on the front row.

St. George Invitational

 She is so excited to go to St. George to play tennis!  Savanna and I drove to St. George and stayed in Allan's house.  We left Thursday and came home Sunday. 

We stopped on the way home and visited our previous hired man, Ty and his wife. 

 

 The rain was a little fierce for a few miles through Santaquin.

 

 This is Kylee demonstrating how she accidentally gave Savanna a black eye. (not really)

 It was a bit purple for a day or two.

 

 We waited around quite a bit since there were 50 teams to get through and only 3 courts to play on.

Thankfully, the pool was available to cool off in.  It was 102  most of the time they were playing  tennis.

 Katie and Savanna made it to the quarter finals before they got beat.  The team that beat them took 2nd.

 The fountain was a bit tempting for the girls to cool off in also.

 As a J.V. team, they took 2nd place behind Desert Hills, a team from St. George.  Individually, the girls in the  middle of the above picture won!  Go MC!

 

When they weren't playing tennis, jumping in the pool, playing in the fountain, playing ping pong, watching pro-tennis on the big screen, and watching the Uof U vs. USU game, they were playing Pickle Ball!  They use paddles and a wiffle ball and they were hilarious to watch.  Especially Emily jumping over the net!
