Jaw Surgery...Again!

This is the before picture.

This is in the waiting room.  She is finishing her book "Killing Lincoln".  It was her goal to finish it before school started--and she did.  

This is after an hour in the room.  She looks so much better than the first time she had the surgery when she was twelve.  Granted, she had both the top and bottom jaw done then.  She doesn't have the mouth guard in the roof of her mouth that makes it so hard to eat anything.

We warned Courtney that it may be a little shocking to see Sierra.

She said we didn't warn her quite enough.

This is the day after surgery.  What an improvement in her lip line already!

It was a tough decision to go through with this surgery again.  She was tired of her front teeth being cold in the winter because her lip didn't cover her teeth.  Her bite had been pushed out by her tongue thrusting and she had grown more than the doctors anticipated. It ended up being an "easier" recovery than the first one despite the fact that she lost a lot of blood.  She is eating sooner and better than the first time and we didn't have to suction so much blood from her mouth.  That was the hard part for me.  It is hard to watch her be so tough and vulnerable.  I hope this is the end!
