Thursday: Pearl Harbor

This is part of the Arizona that is above water.

It is hard to imagine the tragic events of Dec. 7, 1941
As part of the tour, we got to watch a video that detailed the events of that day.  It was very enlightening.

This is on the Memorial.  Honolulu is in the background.

This is the ferry boat that took us out to the Memorial.
We also walked through the USS Bowfin, a Submarine that is near the Arizona.  It was interesting.  We all decided we wouldn't like to sleep in these bunk beds!

The bow of the Bowfin
The headset around my neck was a walking tour that we listened to as we walked through the submarine and museum.

Hawaii Day 1

The three hour time difference helped us get going in the morning!  9:00 a.m. was 6:00 a.m. Hawaii time!  We were able to get out early each day and enjoy the ocean at out back door.  This is the view out the back of our beach house!  We were so excited to see this place!  The ocean--this close!!  It sounded like the wind was howling all night and it was only the ocean.

This is the front door.

The main part of the house.  We could have put two more on the futons.

The dining table we never used.

The kitchen that we didn't hardly use--except the fridge to store all the groceries that Sherleen bought for us.

We walked about a mile down the road to a Laie Point.
These are some of the flowers that we found along the way.
This yellow Hibiscus is the State Flower.

This was a rock formation just off the Laie Point.

My beautiful children.

This is the tunnel we go through to get to Honolulu.

Sierra's Friends

Chase, Sierra, Shay, Joe, Susan
Joe had bad allergies so he wore the white handkerchief,  Shay is just goofy and wore the red one.
They were a fun bunch to take riding.  They re-named all the horses and loved all the places I took them.

Laurel's

These girls were Beehives when I was put in as President.
They have known me a long time.  I love them and they are so
much fun to be with.
Savanna, Megann Bunderson, Me, Lexie Mathews, Emily Wiegman

Sweetheart's Dance

This is the boutineer--a yellow calla lilly

The tradition at our house is that the boy has to play the piano for us when he takes our girls out.  Nearly every boy has been able to play and most play very well--these two included!
After the dance the whole group came to our house for ice cream sundae's.
Savanna ask Lorin to the dance.  He is a Senior and lots of fun to be around.
For their day date they went to the elementary school and played games in the gym. They went to Fredrickos for dinner and then to the Dance.  Heather Savage took these cute pictures.

Chantel and Steve rode with Lorin and Savanna

What a beauty!

Happy Valentines

Bryan bought me these pretty flowers for V-day.
Lilly's are high on my list of favorite flowers.
Vickie makes the best cupcakes!  We get them every year and we fight over them.

The have a small circle of pie crust on the bottom and then raspberry jam and then white cake and frosting on top.  Delicious!

February has been so mild and so nice ourside!   I am just returning from a nice 3 mile run and it is about 30 degrees.  My running limit is above 20 degrees.
(burn those cupcake calories!)

The Royals

My cute cousins visiting Aunt MaryAnn and Uncle Gus.
Kim, Cathy, Gary, MaryAnn

My mom, Sharon, MaryAnn, Gus, my dad, Tony
So, the Royal's moved from their home in Salt Lake to Millville to live with their daughter, so Uncle Gus could have more care.  His liver is failing and he is now on Hospice.
MaryAnn and my dad are siblings.  Within 3 days of moving and MaryAnn feeling terrible the whole time, Sherry. her daughter, took her to the hospital and after several tests it is determined that she has stage 4 lung cancer.  It was a huge blow to their sweet family.  Cathy, their daugher, came to help for a week and then her husband and these two cute kids came for a visit and a conference.
It was Cheyenne's birthday and also Valentines day, and Alex had missed his Valentine's Day school party so I dressed up as Cupid and surprised them with paper hearts and sugar cookies to frost.  I had the beginnings of a cold so I wore the mask to protect Aunt MaryAnn who had just had her first Chemo treatment.

Cheyenne called me Aunt Cupid

I love the look in his eyes.
You can just see how much he loves her.
I want this kind of love.

Cathy and Cupid-Bonnie

I love this girl.  She is an amazing person who is so real and so kind--and I get to call her family!
