This funny plant had his attention.  It looked very interested in what was happening.

 

Jenny met these two at the River Golf Course and took these pictures.  They look great and it was fun. Jackson was completely goofy and funny the whole time and Jenny saw a side of him that she hadn't seen before.  Courtney looks so darn cute!  I am so lucky!

Bryan said "Let's go half a day skiing and we jumped at the opportunity!  It was 50 degrees and a little slushy but absolutely gorgeous!

Introducing our new tractor!  It will be so nice to haul a little manure, drag the rake and the harrows, scrape the smaller pens and alleys, and who knows what else Alma will find to do with it!

Colic Victim

This guy was just turning three and we took him to be broke.  Matt called to tell us that he was starting to colic so he took him to the vet and watched him but to no avail.  He hadn't even ridden him yet. 
Tough deal.

Stuck

This funny calf is on his way to having a new mother.  He is a holstein from the local dairy and one of our cows had and a calf and it died so the holstein is being grafted onto the cow.  I am sitting on the back of the truck so he wouldn't fall off and he just laid there (with his feet tied together) with his head on my legs.  He was so happy to have a real live mother!

 

It is that season again.
Thankfully, I was not driving and my cell phone worked well enough to call Shawn for help.  The snow provides just enough insulation that the ground hasn't frozen and  it is soft and muddy underneath.  What a mess!

Snow Day--Finally

We have had one of the most dry and mild winters ever.  Bryan has loved every minute of it.
 Now that March is here and our cows are right ready to calve, the snow comes!

I feel bad for the cows when the snow is frozen to their back.  They look pretty miserable.

This is Mouse--named more for his color not his size.  He is my favorite today.

This calf was born in the snow storm and so Bryan and Alma gathered him up and took him to Marj's and put him in the warmer until morning.  He was mooing and ready to nurse by then.  They are staying in the barn one more day, until the snow melts--again.

This is the day after the storm.  It was beautiful.  We ended up with about 16 inches of snow in two days of storm.  More than any other storm all winter.  We had two calves born and both are alive--for now.

 I realize that my legs aren't that long but the fringe on my chinks is resting on top of the snow.

The girls played four games in Region play.  They had to win the fourth to play in the championship. They had won every other game and they had played so well!  We were so proud of them despite their lack of coaching. (Colette took over the roster and things were much better!)

The last game was tough and they couldn't buy a basket and the refs called fouls heavy to our team.  It was a sad day to lose when we were so close!

Things I learned that I never knew about girls basketball:

They don't want to be comforted they want to vent their frustrations

They are silly until it is time to be serious

They are way more aggressive than any boys team I have ever watched

They are loyal to each other

Basketball builds friendship

Pizza fixes everything!
