Critters

Quite a contrast in critters I've come across this week! 

The top one was in the middle of the trail to Zelda's piece.  My horse wasn't bothered by it and after I took the picture, the snake slithered away.  

I wish Shawn would have been with me!  (hee hee)

I think this little guy fell out of the hole in the roof of the barn.  He was quite disoriented and tried to come over to Sierra and I like a kitten would.  We did NOT pick him up.  We have had racoons born in the roof before but we hardly ever see them and only occasionally hear them.  It was fun to see this one up close!

More Training

We thought we would get wet when we left at 6:30 a.m., but it ended up perfectly cool and nice.

In case you are wondering if I am running with her...NOT

See where the road ends at the top of the hill?  Ya, that is where we ended.
  It is six and a half miles from home.  I'll be darned if I can make it to the top before she does!
  We've done it twice and I have to push my bike the last 2 blocks and she passes me!
That is embarrassing.

100 day Book of Mormon Reading Club

After dinner there was a beautiful double rainbow!

We challenged the Young Women to read the Book of Mormon in 100 days.  We knew they could do hard things and they did!  We had nearly all of them finish.  Their reward was to go to dinner at Golden Corral!  They ate more cotton candy than anything else.  It was a great time.

Our new 2 year old

Isn't he cute?  He is Fort Ranch bred (I don't have the papers yet for full details, but they are coming)
and very gentle.  Matt had him and I just happened to tell him I wanted a nice 2 year old.  I can't wait to have time to ride him!

New YW tent

The Young Women needed a new tent.
I found this great one at Smith and Edwards and an awning to put our cooking stuff in.
Savanna and I set it up and didn't have too much trouble.  I hope I get a soft spot somewhere!
Mostly, I hope it doesn't rain on us.

Good Clean Fun?

Sierra is in the center of this muddy mess!  We had to haul water from Shandee's house on the back of the flat bed pick-up to the volley ball court to make it muddy enough for these crazy kids.  They had so much fun and luckily, the canal across the street had water in it for them to clean up in!

 The wildflowers are just starting to appear around the cabin!

 The road washed out up the main canyon across this culvert this winter.  It looks pretty good but the Wasatch Back runners are going to struggle with the big rocks!

I have never seen snow at the cabin in June.  It is an  unbelievable year.  The lawn is almost completely under water still.  I got my boots wet walking across it.

I have never in my 24 years of going to the cabin seen the west end under water.  Especially not in June!  Notice how much snow is still in the mountains in the background. 

It was more windy than cold.  The coats kept some of the dust off.

Overlooking Clay Valley.  The ponds are full.  It was disheartening to see that there is hardly any grass.  We are so ready to get the cows up here.  Unfortunately, there isn't anything to eat.  I guess we will be patient and wait a couple more weeks. 

Allan and Di took us in the Ranger.  It was a great ride.  We were dusty when we got home.  We brought a tick home too.  Thankfully, it was found crawling on Sierra's arm and hadn't imbedded itself.  It gave us all the heeby-jeeby's! 

Bryan is our best spotter.  He saw this guy in a meadow in the main canyon.  He did have little stub horns starting to grow.
